Ever Thought How To Make Someone Forget That They Had Cancer? Check Out These Brilliant Photographs

It’s a constant struggle to live with cancer. Patients have to adapt to the mental pressures that include exhaustion, anxiety and no self-esteem. They also have to deal with the physical changes the disease brings, like changes in appearance. Wouldn’t it be great to make them forget this worries if only for a second?

The Mimi foundation and Vincent Dixon, a photographer did just that. They made portraits of 20 cancer patients in a series tabbed “If Only For a Second”. The patients were to keep their eyes closed throughout their makeover process. They were then placed in front of a two-way mirror and asked to open their eyes. Dixon, who was behind the mirror, captured the priceless reaction to the makeovers by the patients.
The idea behind the campaign was inspired by one of the patients wish to live a carefree life, like they did before they discovered they had cancer. Dixon’s role in all this was to immortalize that moment the patients forgot their disease. According to him, the experience was humbling and enjoyable. The patients forgot their illness for a moment and these brought him a sense of laughter and joy that moved him deeply.

The moment the patients opened their eyes was magical. They knew what their disguise was because they had chosen it, yet you see that moment of disbelief as they try to register how fantastic they look,” says Dixon. “The video was shot at very high speed but this all happened in a fraction of a second -- then they burst out laughing.”

It was a bittersweet moment though as not everyone got to see their portrait. Katy, the lady on the cover of the book “If Only for a Second”, that was made from the images, passed away a month later. Dixon hopes that the photo created a memorable image for her daughter and husband. The proceeds of the coffee table book go to the Mimi Foundation.

The Largest Meal In The World : A Whole Camel, Stuffed With A Whole Lamb, Stuffed With Chickens, Stuffed With Fish, Stuffed With Eggs.

Here’s another one for the books, folks. The extent of the human imagination, and appetite, truly is limitless. Don’t ever believe that you’ve seen it all. The largest known dish on any menu has been recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as stuffed whole camel. Yes, that is correct. A whole camel stuffed. It doesn’t end there, either. It’s not simply stuffed the way something small time, like a turkey, would be stuffed. This camel is stuffed with two sheep, or lambs, which, in turn, are stuff with around 20 chickens which are stuffed with fish. Can a proper explanation really be given?

The meal, whose original name is unknown, originates in the Middle East as a traditional Bedouin dish. It has since been dubbed with the title of “camel Turducken” and is sometimes used as the dish of choice for weddings and special parties in places like Saudi Arabia. For people who are unfamiliar with the original term, Turducken is a turkey, stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a chicken. This is a buckle popper for most Americans, but would probably be considered an appetizer for this crowd. Naturally, this collation of a Chinese Box in meal form is not something that can simply be whipped up in an instant. This mass of meat has to be boiled and then roasted over burning charcoal until the camel meat is crisp and succulent. Where is the meat boiled? Do we really want to know what is large enough to boil a stuffed camel? The whole process, surprisingly, only takes 24 hours. A week wouldn’t have been completely unimaginable. When the ensemble is complete the camel is served on a silver platter, of course, and the guests are left to inhale the meat using whatever utensil they feel is necessary, until nothing is left but bones and New Year’s resolutions.

According to Snopes, a myth-busting website, the recipe to make camel Turducken is actually in a cook book called International Cuisine and is listed as a Saudi-Arabian dish. So, if you ever want to impress a group of 80 to 100 guests, this book will give you all of the necessary ingredients and cooking instructions to help you fulfill this desire. The same site also gives reference to Richard Sterling’s book entitled The Fearless Diner in which he describes his meeting with Sven Krause, executive chef at a high- class Bangkok restaurant, who tells, in detail, of actually cooking and serving this meal while working in Saudi Arabia.

Here Is The True Story Of The Only Known Victim Of A Meteorite In History

In 1954, on a calm afternoon in Sylacauga, Alabama, Ann Hodges was taking a nap on her couch. Suddenly, a hunk of black rock the size of a softball broke through her ceiling, hit the radio and bounced off onto her thigh. It left a pineapple shaped bruise.

Ann’s story is quite a rare phenomenon. According to Michael Reynolds, author (Falling Stars: A Guide to Meteors & Meteorites) and Florida State College astronomer, meteorites usually either strike one of the vast remote places on earth or fall into the ocean.

Before it slammed into Ann’s house, the meteorite had been cited by people across eastern Alabama and in Sylacauga. According to a web publication of a story produced in 2010 by the Alabama Museum of Natural History, “The Day the Meteorite Fell in Sylacauga”, people reported seeing "a bright reddish light like a Roman candle trailing smoke." Others saw "a fireball, like a gigantic welding arc," that was accompanied by a brown cloud and tremendous explosions.

A government geologist who was called to the scene confirmed the object was a meteorite but according to the museum publication, not everyone was convinced. Most of them suspected the soviets of foul play while others thought a plane had crashed.

Moody Jacobs shows a giant bruise on the side and hip of his patient, Ann Hodges, in 1954, after she was struck by a meteorite.
The Sylacauga Police chief handed the rock to the Air Force who confirmed it was a meteorite but didn’t know what to do with it. The public however had a solution; they demanded it to be returned to Ann, who agreed.

"I feel like the meteorite is mine," she said, according to the museum. "I think God intended it for me. After all, it hit me!"

Ann and her husband, Eugene Hodges were renters however and the landlady, Birdie Guy, demanded they hand over the meteorite. She sued them claiming the rock should be hers since it had slammed into her property. The law was on her side but the public wasn’t.

The case was settled out of court and Guy received $500 in exchange for the meteorite. Eugene was convinced the rock would bring them a fortune and when this didn’t happen, they donated it in 1956 to the Natural History Museum where it remains on display.

Ann suffered a nervous breakdown and she and Eugene separated in 1964. She died at 52, in 1972 of kidney failure at a nursing home in Sylacauga. Eugene suspected that Ann had been affected by the meteorite and all the frenzy. According to the museum, he claimed "she never did recover."

The Hodges, according to Randy Mecredy the museum director, were simple country people who sought no limelight and all the attention the meteorite brought must have caused Ann’s downfall.

Here Are Some Of The Weirdest Plastic Surgeries Guys Have Undergone

It’s weird when one realizes that a man has undergone plastic surgery. Most men use the gym or eat healthy for a great look. The motivation however for plastic surgery still remains- men also want to look younger. This is understandable but some of these plastic surgeries are just overboard. Why would anyone want to look like a plastic doll? These men make having a tattoo not look so bad.
1. Getting a cat look
Most men like dogs rather than cats but Dennis Avner chose to have a cat look. He got extensive body modifications to look like a female tiger. He was famously known as Stalking Cat and held a world record for the "Most permanent transformations to look like an animal". A Native American medicine man gave him the name Stalking Cat and told him to "follow the ways of the tiger." He underwent 14 surgical procedures to achieve this.

2. To get a Demon look.

For these men, having a face tattoo does not get you enough attention from the goth chicks. They have implanted subdermal horns on their head! Steve Haworth was the inventor of these horn implants. He holds the record for the "most advanced body modification artist" in the Guinness World Records.

You can have horns of any size implanted depending on the identity you want to assume. The procedure is simple and no medical training is required.

3. To get a lizard look

Eric Sprague, famously known as The Lizard Man, is a standup comedian and sideshow actor. He tattooed his body green and got a split tongue. He then made his look a career. Smart guy but if you need to look like him, tattooing the word “FREAK” on your chest may be unnecessary!

4. To get a Ken Doll look

Justin Jedlica seems to have forgotten the Guy Code that is against being into Barbie Dolls. He has undergone over 100 surgeries to look like one. The media dubbed him “The Human Ken Doll”, a title he got after boasting of the many cosmetic procedures he has undergone.

Valeria Lukyanova, has also transformed herself into a human Barbie but the two hate the idea of being paired up and can’t agree on who has the best doll-like looks.

5. To get a Liberace look

This takes the record for the weirdest episode in plastic surgery history. Vegas superstar, Liberace, had plastic surgery done on his boyfriend Scott Thorson. Liberace asked a visiting doctor to reshape Scott’s face so that he could look like the younger version of the Vegas superstar. Scott agreed and got cheek and chin implants. Creepy!

Amazing Plastic Surgery Makes A Korean Woman So Gorgeous That Surgeon Proposes Her

In South Korea, one in five women admits to having undergone surgery. It’s a country with the most cosmetically enhanced people worldwide. Data taken by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, shows that one in every 77 South Koreans has had plastic surgery done on either their face and/or body.

Plastic surgery is so common in this country that most of the stigma regarding it has gone away and beauty queens and celebrities discuss it openly. Here, a person’s success or failure is highly determined by facial looks which makes plastic surgery a worthwhile investment. The success of celebrities in Korea who have undergone plastic surgery is a contributing factor to the high rates. In fact, most of the people in need of the surgery carry photos of celebrities for surgeons to duplicate their looks. Another reason Koreans undergo plastic surgery is to achieve a “western look.” This involves undergoing a double eyelid surgery to make eyes look bigger and/or a jaw reconfiguration that makes ones faces small and more sharply defined.
